There are several things you need to know about how to get to Banyuwangi?

Banyuwangi Regency is located at the tip of the island of East Java, which is adjacent to the Bali island. Eventhough, Bali is indeed very interesting for tourists to visit, but Banyuwangi is to explore to get a pleasant experience during travel on East Java.

There are two ways to reach Banyuwangi city from Bali. It can be by land which then uses a Ferry to cross the Bali strait, or you can use a plane and land at Banyuwangi airport.

Most travelers use the Ferry to cross to Banyuwangi if they are in Bali. Besides being easy to access by land and sea, the ticket price is also quite cheap compared to planes.

What is the best way to get to Banyuwangi ?

1. You can take a taxi from your hotel and drop you to the Ferry port (Gilimanuk) and then across to Banyuwangi. it is good for you if you want to explore Banyuwangi and truly wanderer. 🙂
2. You can book with a travel agency to organize your trip from Bali to Java. They can even provide you private transport from your hotel to Ferry Port and help you to cross the Bali strait. 
3. Taking by plane. If you are an exclusive traveler, you may take by plane to Banyuwangi,. It is good for you and makes you don’t even waste your time on the land transportation or Ferry. This option is not expensive, you just need to spend more money.

Which one is better?

All those options are good to try, but we have a recommendation to you that option number two is better than others.  You just book with a travel agency to organize your trip on Java and you just only sit and wait, and everything will be organized well. You have more time to enjoy your trip without worrying about your luggage, time to enjoy, entrance ticket, etc. 

What are the best things to do in Banyuwangi?

The first place that is the best place to visit is Ijen Crater.

Ijen crater is one of the active volcanoes on Java island which has an enchantment of its phenomenon. Ijen crater tour offered the best panoramic scenery of the one of the biggest acidic lakes on earth with its beautiful turquoise color. 

The phenomenon of Blue Flame is also the best attraction at mount Ijen. The blue fire tour at Ijen can be seen at dark, once around is getting bright the flames fade away. If you are coming from Bali, you have to leave your hotel earlier or approximately at 07.00 pm to reach Gilimanuk Ferry Por and then across to Banyuwangi.

The second thing to do in Banyuwangi is to visit Sukamade turtle beach. This is the home of a giant turtle that comes ashore 365 days a year. Sukamade turtle tour is the best second optiont trip after Ijen Crater tour. You can witness the activity of turtles on the beach at night when they lay their eggs in the sand. 

Sukamade is located in the southern part of Banyuwangi regency and it takes about 4-5hrs from Banyuwangi city to reach there. Meanwhile, most tourists chose this place after visiting the Ijen Volcano tour before they go back to Bali or continue to the next destination in East Java. The next trip after Ijen blue fire tour they continue to the west such as the Bromo tour, Tumpak Sewu Waterfall tour or direct transfer to Malang or Surabaya.

The third is Kalibaru Plantation. This place is located in the west

 part of Banyuwangi regency and it takes about 5-6hrs from Banyuwangi and after the Ijen blue fire trekking tour. This excursion offer attraction of many  kind tropical plantations on East Java. If you love historical tours combined with plantation tours, this excursion is suitable for you.

The next is Glenmore Rafting. This location is near the Kalibaru plantation in Banyuwangi’s western region. As a result, this tour is suitable to do before Ijen Crater tour or after Kalibaru tour. 

The other is Lider Waterfall. It is located in the north-west of Banyuwangi. This is 60 m high and lies 1600 m above sea level. This waterfall is connected to Mount Raung stream. Itcan be reached by trekking through the tropical forest and is fully adventurous. This place is interesting to visit beacuse less tourists from overseas come because it is hidden away from crowds and villages.
