What to expect?
To visit Tumpak Sewu, one must be physically fit. You will have to navigate the rocky terrain, little river, bamboo stairs, and limited trail while exploring the waterfall. Please bring certain items, such as shorts, flip-flops, and shoes, with you.





- Day 1 | Surabaya - Bromo - Bondowoso
- Departure time : 12.15 am

At midnight and 12.15 in the morning, the driver will pick you up from your Surabaya hotel, train station, or airport. Additionally, it takes roughly three hours to drive directly to Cemara Lawang, a settlement in the Bromo region. Once there, change your vehicle into a 4WD jeep to get to the Bromo sunrise location. You will be positioned on Kingkong Hill, a sunrise location that is 2600 meters above sea level. Arrive at the dawn viewing area at 4:00 am.
You can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in the tiny stall on this area as morning break and it’s included before bromo sunrise. When the sun rises at 5.30 am, you can take pictures of the breathtaking scenery to put on your memory card. The sun rises at 5.30 am, and when it comes, its time for you to fill your memory card with the awesome scenery of Bromo mountain range.
The lowest point above sea level is Mount Bromo, which is 2.329m. It is obvious that Mount Bromo is the smokey mountain. The following volcano is Mount Batok, which is dormant. The highest peak is another one, Semeru. It is the holiest and tallest peak in East Java, rising 3.676 meters above sea level.
The jeep will take you down to the Bromo Caldera once you’ve enjoyed the Bromo sunrise (sea of sand). You can ask the jeep driver to stop wherever you like along the journey if you notice a nice photo opportunity.
You will begin a comfortable climb to Bromo Crater once your vehicle stops close to Poten Temple. Getting to the top of Mount Bromo and taking in the scenery takes around 20 minutes. After climbing Mount Bromo, the group returned to the car and had breakfast at the closest eatery in the Bromo area.
For Ijen, the tour continues on the road to Bondowoso. The closest region to the Ijen area where you would be staying is Bondosowo. The first-day tour departs from this location and is a free program.

Ijen Crater trip preparation. It takes roughly 1.5 hours to drive directly from the hotel to Paltuding (Ijen’s parking lot). Prepare the items you’ll need for the hike up Mount Ijen, including your shoes, long sleeves, long pants, windproof jacket, and headlamp. Some of your belongings might be left in the vehicle.
To reach Ijen top, you must walk 3 km along a smooth path. The route is divided into a first 200 m semi-flat, a second 150 m steep, and the remaining m more level. You can walk with sulfur miners and use the community “ijen-taxi” service along the way. Sulfur miners begin their shifts at three in the morning and end at nine.
When you reach the summit, which is around 5:00 am, you can take in one of the world’s largest and most beautiful acid lakes. Departing from Paltuding around 8:00 am and continuing on to Lumajang. Arrive in Lumajang around 3 o’clock in the afternoon and the second day’s tour is conducted from here and is a free program.

The driver will pick you up at the hotel and driving to Tumpak Sewu parking area within 20 minutes. Once arrive at the parking area, prepare your belongings, such as shorts, shoes, and a camera or waterproof phone case, as you get at the parking area. To get to the first waterfall view point, you will hike with a native guide. A striking vista of a semicircular waterfall with Mount Semeru in the background will greet you.
The path is not well paved. To get to the waterfall’s base, you must navigate a tight trail and few bamboo stairs. Take as many photos as you like while taking in the cooling effects of the waterfall. Visit the Goa Tetes, or Drops Cave in English, afterward. It is situated just after the Tumpak Sewu waterfall. After getting back in the car, stop at the local warung for lunch to refuel before continuing to Surabaya.
