Surabaya/Malang - Bromo - Surabaya/Malang

The driver and guide will pick you up at your hotel in Surabaya/Malang at 01.00 pm. Then continue driving to Probolinggo regency to reach the last village nearby Bromo area Cemara Lawang Village”. Arrive at Bromo area around 02.30 pm and change the car into 4WD. The jeep will take the traveler up to the sunset view point. 

The sun is setting down at 04.30. Around 05.30 pm leaving view point then driving down to the Caldera (sea of sand). After enjoy the sunset then heading back to the car for having dinner at the nearest restaurant at Bromo area. Heading back to Malang/Surabaya and tour is over.

1. When is the best season to visit Mount Bromo?
The best time to visit Mount Bromo is during the dry season from April to October. Rain intensity is higher during the wet season from November to March, but the National Park is still open during this period if tourist wants to visit Bromo.

2. Where is Bromo located and how long will it take to reach Bromo area?
Mount Bromo is located in the south from the flight service – Juanda Airport Surabaya and It is driving within 3 hours to reach Tengger area. If you come from Malang, Bromo is located in the east and driving for 3.5hrs.

3. How does the landscape look like?
Mount Bromo stand within massive Caldera and Tengger tribe in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. There are 5 volcanoes within the Caldera; Mount Bromo (2.329 asl), Mount Batok (2.470 asl), Mount Widodaren (2.650 asl) Mount Wetangan (2.661 asl), Mount Kursi (2.581 asl). Those five volcanoes stands within a vast area of Caldera (sea of sand) or well known as Lautan Pasir. Cemoro lawang is the village of Tengger people and it stand higher than Mount Bromo location. Mount Pananjakan is the view point located on the rim of Bromo Caldera. From view point you can also see the majestic eruption of Mount Semeru (3.676 asl) the highest mountain in Java located behind the Caldera or Bromo area.

4. Can I see the Milky Way at Mt. Bromo?
Sure, you can request for the optional milky way tour which begins around midnight from your hotel at Cemoro Lawang. You will lead to several view points such as Mentigen hill, Seruni point, Mount Pananjakan and Kingkong Hill. You should bring a suitable camera equipment such as tripod and lens for Milky Way photography. To make it easier you can order camping package tour, in order you have a lot of time to see the Milky Way moment until sunrise. When the sun is shining, its time to go down to reach the base of Mount Bromo. The distance between View Point to Mount Bromo around 8 km. Tourist should better to take by Ojek (Motorcycle service) and its cost about 150k/person to reach Bromo base and drop you off to the lodge.

5. Can I hike instead of taking the jeep tour?
Yes, you can take the tour solely on foot than taking the jeep. Its program called Bromo Trekking. You start around midnight from your hotel at Cemoro Lawang. The guide will lead you hike through Seruni point and reach the Kingkong Hill. This trek takes about 2 hours climb the steep cliff of Mount Pananjakan (No require any climb special technique). If you prefer to see the Bromo Crater, you should rent Ojek or Jeep. It caused the distance between view point to Mount Bromo about 8 km.

6. How much is the entrance ticket cost in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park?
Weekdays : IDR 217.000
Weekend : IDR 317.000

7. How much is the horse ride at Mount Bromo?
It cost around 75K IDR for one way Parking lot – Bromo Upstairs base. For return trip it cost around 150K IDR. Note that the horse ride end close to the start of the stairs to climb Mount Bromo. Then you still have to climb for 250 upstairs to reach Mount Bromo rim. You can take by walk like most visitors do (Walk 1.5 km). In term of price, do negotiate with the horseman about the price to get a best deal.

8. What is the temperature at Mount Bromo?
In the early morning the temperature can be as low as 3 – 7 Degrees Celsius. Temperature in the late noon will be around 15 – 20 Degrees Celsius. Commonly in the late afternoon to evening the temperature drop quickly when its windy or rainy.

9. What should I wear to Mount Bromo?
Wear jacket and add some layers are good for you when you visit Mount Bromo on April – October (dry season). Add some accessories like hat, shoes and gloves. If you don’t have those, you can buy it in nearest souvenir shop at Bromo, cost around 45-50K IDR.

10. Are the toilets available along the trek?
Yes, There is a basic toilet (in typical local squat – style) sometimes the toilet paper is not provided and you should bring by yourself. There are toilets at view point and the jeep parking lot. You can use toilet before start hiking Mount Bromo.

11. Can I camp at Bromo?
Sure you can do. We arrange and customize camping program. It is included dinner and breakfast along do a camping program. Once you do camping program, you can enjoy the milky way on the top of view point. You will get moment of sunset, milky way and sunrise from the campsite.

12. Can I visit Bromo during festival?
Yes, you can visit Bromo during festival. Avoid the silence day as Mount Bromo is Close. Silence day is the holy day for Tengger people which are mostly Hinduism.

13. Do I have to trek at Madakaripura Waterfall?
Yes, our vehicle will drop you off at parking lot and change into motorcycle ride. You will be leaded by a local guide to walk through the waterfall trek. From parking lot to the waterfall spot it takes about 1 km or 1 hour trekking. 

14. Can I swim at Madakaripura waterfall?
Since earlier 2018 all visitors prohibited to swim to prevent falling stone from waterfall or sudden flood.

15. How much tips should I give to the tour guide and driver?
We suggest around IDR 100K per day to guide and IDR 50K per day to driver for good service.
