Bromo Tumpak Sewu Tour from Malang or Surabaya

Visiting Mount Bromo and Tumpak Sewu Waterfalls from Malang or Surabaya is the easiest way to start your trip in East Java. This trip will be started in midnight pick up by driver from your accommodation in Malang or Surabaya and then driving towards Cemara Lawang Village. This village is the last village near Bromo Volcano and it will be your first destination on the first day. 

Experience to explore Mount Bromo sunrise and the landscape view of the Bromo Caldera and also savannah will become an interesting part of this tour on the first day. Bromo is not about sunrise, you will also experience riding the old 4WD or well known as “Jeep Bromo” to get through the sea of sand before hiking the volcano. 

On the second day, then exploring the majestic waterfall of East Java, Sewu falls. It is the popular name for its waterfalls as it is reflecting the shape of the waterfalls. “Sewu” means thousands which is reflecting this waterfalls is coming from thousand sources and its seems like a curtain of the cliff. Sewu falls is located in the southern part of East Java with specifically at Pronojiwo Village, Lumajang regency. With the background of Semeru Mountain, this waterfalls offers the most stunning view for visitors. 

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 | Malang / Surabaya – Bromo – Lumajang Regency

The driver will pick you up at Wake up early in the morning at 03.00 am and ready for the Bromo Sunrise program. Then directly drive to Mount Bromo. Arrive at Cemoro Lawang village and shift the car into 4WD to take you to the sunrise view point and it takes about 30 minutes to reach the view point. You will arrive at Sunrise view point at 03.45 am. The jeep driver will pick you up at the hotel and then drive to the Sunrise view point within 30 minutes

Before bromo sunrise, you may have a cup of coffee or tea in the small stall in this area as morning break and its included. The sun rises at 5.30 am, and when it comes, it’s time for you to fill your memory card with the awesome scenery of the Bromo mountain range. Mount Bromo is the lowest 2.329m above sea level. It can be marked that Mount Bromo is the smoky one. The next is Mount Batok and it’s not an active volcano. Other mountain is the highest named Semeru. It is the holy and the highest mountain in East Java which has an altitude of 3.676m above sea level.

After enjoying the Bromo sunrise, the jeep will bring you down to the Bromo Caldera (sea of sand). Along the way down you can ask the jeep driver to stop anywhere if you see a good spot to make a picture. Your jeep will stop nearby Poten Temple and you start doing a smooth trek to Bromo Crater. It takes about 20 minutes to reach the top and enjoy the view from the rim of mount Bromo. After trekking to Mount Bromo and then heading back to the car and having breakfast at the hotel Afterward direct drive to Lumajang. Arrive at the hotel and free program.

Day 2 | Tumpak Sewu Waterfall – Finish Malang / Surabaya

The driver will pick you up at 07.00 am at your hotel in Lumajang and direct you to Tumpak Sewu Waterfall. It takes about 10 minutes driving. Once the car is parked, you will be hiking together with a local guide to Tumpak Sewu Waterfall. First is the view point, you will be welcomed by an impressive view of a massive semi circle waterfall with Semeru volcano as the background. Explore the waterfall by trekking down.

The road isn’t well paved and at the bamboo stairs, you might need some help to climb the 15 meters down to get near the waterfall. Nearby the waterfall, you will also visit Kabut Pelangi and a drop cave named “Goa Tetes or Drops Cave” in English. Once back in the car, we will have lunch at the warung or small food shop to refill your energy before continuing driving to Malang or Surabaya for your drop off point. Arrive at Malang/Surabaya And your tour is finished.
