Bromo Madakaripura Ijen Tumpak Sewu from Surabaya 4D3N

The tour depart at 11.00 am from Surabaya and direct to Bromo area. Before reaching at Bromo you can stop by at the Madakaripura Waterfall which is the distance about 25km from Cemara Lawang Village (The last village at Bromo – place for overnight). Stay one night at Bromo and the tour will be continuing on the next day. 

Start at 03.00 am from your hotel and go to sunrise view point at Bromo. The following days visiting Ijen with its beauty of the blue acidic lake and the phenomenon of the blue fire. Lies in the south of Lumajang regency, there is the most majestic waterfall named Tumpak Sewu waterfall. You will explore those places within 4 day 3 night efficiently from start to finish. 

One of the best attractions of Mount Bromo is the opportunity to witness a stunning sunrise from the viewpoint at Penanjakan. The viewpoint is located on the rim of the Tengger caldera, providing a panoramic view of the caldera and the surrounding mountains, including Mount Batok and Mount Semeru. As the sun rises, it casts a golden glow over the landscape, making for a truly breathtaking and unforgettable experience. The best time to visit the viewpoint is early in the morning, around 5 or 6 am, to catch the sunrise at its most beautiful.

One of the best attractions at Ijen is the stunning blue flame that can be seen at the crater at night. The blue flame is actually a natural gas that is ignited as it escapes through the cracks in the earth, creating a mesmerizing blue glow that can be seen from miles away. The best time to see the blue flame is during the night, as it is much more difficult to spot during the day. Visitors can hike to the crater to witness the blue flame up close, or view it from a distance at one of the nearby viewpoints. The hike to the crater can be quite strenuous, but the experience of seeing the blue flame is well worth the effort.

Tumpak Sewu, also known as Coban Sewu, is a breathtaking waterfall located in East Java, Indonesia. The main attraction of Tumpak Sewu is its sheer size and natural beauty. The waterfall cascades down from a height of over 200 meters, forming a series of terraced drops that create a spectacular sight. The surrounding area is lush and green, with dense forests and a variety of plant and animal life. The waterfall is a popular spot for hiking, swimming, and picnicking, and visitors can also explore the surrounding caves and ancient temples. Overall, Tumpak Sewu is a must-see attraction for anyone visiting East Java.

Tour Itinerary

Our staff will greet you at the Airport or your accommodation or Airport in Surabaya and then driving for about 2 hours to Cemoro Lawang Village to reach your Bromo accommodation. Along the trip to Cemoro Lawang Village, you may stop at Madakaripura Waterfall before reaching your accommodation at Bromo.  Once you reach your accommodation, you can relax and recharge your energy before your trip to Bromo Sunrise which is started in the early morning.

Time Table

  • 11.00 am : Pick up from Airport, Train Station or Accommodation in Surabaya
  • 12.30 pm : Stop at the Indonesian restaurant for lunch
  • 02.30 pm : Visit Madakaripura Waterfall
  • 04.00 pm : Arrive at the accommodation at Bromo

Accommodation:

Wake up call early morning at 03.00 am and ready for Bromo Sunrise. The jeep willbe ready at the hotel and take you to the Bromo sunrise view point. There are some sunrise view points such as Pananjakan, Kingkong hill and Love hill. This take about 30 minutes in a jeep to arrive at the view point. 

The sun is rising at 05.30 am. If you arrive at the view point earlier is good for you either you can choose your own place to take a picture or you can have a cup of coffee or tea at the small stall on that place. The temperature at Bromo during dry season is cold as around 4-5 degree celcius. Please prepare you warm jacket or some layers for you body to keep warm.

After enjoying sunrise, the jeep will bring you down to the Bromo Caldera. From here, you can enjoy the Bromo landscape with the wide range of Bromo mountain and the sea of sand (Caldera). Afterwards, driving to reach the Bromo parking area. Prepare your stuff such as Mineral water and Mask. You probably need a mask during the hike because it would be dusty while the horse and people walk altogether in the same way to go to the Bromo base.

The last challenge is the upstairs before standing on the Bromo rim. Some people said that its total nubmer is 251 foot steps, but some people says in different number. You must prove it and count it what is the right number base on your version 😀

Once you standing on the Bromo rim, the magnificent view will welcome you with the view of the Bromo and the rumbling of the volcano.

  • 08.00 am : Return to the hotel for breakfast and freshen up before leaving
  • 11.00 am : Leaving Bromo area and reach Tumpak Sewu accommodation. Relax and free time.

Accommodation:

The tour starts at 08.00 am. Once the car is parked, you will be hiking together with a local guide to Tumpak sewu waterfall. First is the view point, you will be welcomed by an impressive view of a massive semi circle waterfall with Semeru volcano as the background. Explore the waterfall by trekking down.

The road isn’t well paved and at the bamboo stairs, you might need some help to climb the 15 meters down to get near the waterfall. Nearby the waterfall, you will also visit a cave named “Goa Tetes or Drops Cave” in English.  Take your time enjoy the view and make as a lot of picture as you want.

Once back in the car, we will have lunch at the warung or small food shop to refill your energy before we continue driving to Bondowoso.

  • 12.00 pm : Lunch at Lumajang area before transfer to Bondowoso
  • 04.00 pm : Arrive at your accommodation in Bondowoso

Accommodation:

Tour depart in midnight at 12.00 am and leaving your accommodation in Bondowoso to reach the Ijen trekking basement for about 2 hours driving. Once you arrive at the trekking basement, the guide will greet your there and you can prepare your stuff which is needed such as; warm jacket, hat, mineral water and preparing for your headlamp. 

It takes around 1-2 hours to go across a 3 km long track that are 200 meters flat, 150 meters steep, and the rest is semi-flat. When you reach the top, you must continue to follow the guide to explore the region. Not only do tourists enjoy the panoramic view of the lake and sunrise from the summit of Ijen, but sulfur miners also work there.

Then return to the parking lot for a morning coffee break at a little coffee shop in the Ijen area and a simple breakfast. After that, direct transfer to Surabaya City Center for about 5 hours driving and the tour is finished.

This Ijen crater tour is not including the Blue Fire tour (Optional) and depending on the local conditions. If you want to see the blue fire, please let us know and we will re-adjust you time departure from your hotel in Bondowoso. Optional Blue Fire tour cost USD $13 per person.

Before you book you should know

  1. This tour will coverage four main destinations in East Java such as Volcanoes and waterfalls which will lead you into adventurous activity. The tours is possible starting early morning or even midnight from accommodation.
  2. This trip includes travelling with your group in a private vehicle. There will be a few long travel days because you’ll be visiting some places with adventurous landscape and challenging. The driving duration from one to another places will take about 4 to 5 hours or more to arrive, but there will also be stops along the way to rest and explore interesting locations. Please check the itinerary for estimated travel times.
  3. Summer temperatures can reach 30°C or higher in some areas, so it’s important to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat and stay hydrated. Please carefully consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability to that season.
  1. We have chosen our accommodation very carefully and picked the best possible hotels in line with the location of the destinations, but please note that service and accommodation in East Java may be different from standards you are used to at home.
  2. Room configuration we provide is a private room with capacity for 2 people in a room (odd number of traveler we use an extra bed). If you want a private room for single traveler you may add by request to our reservation staff.
  3. Accommodation might be fully booked during peak season (July to August), as the alternative we will find similar hotel as we provide. Book earlier before peak season is highly recommended.
